Candidate Fails The Blogger Test

VoteReg.gifWhen the Green Party offered up Aaron Dixon as a candidate for the US senate there was a lot of talk in the media about how he could never win it but wouldn't it be interesting if he played spoiler. He'd been on the block for about a week before progressive writer Dave Goldstein dismantled his candidacy and any hopes he had of spoiling anything. Apparently Goldstein was the first person to attempt to look up the guy's voting record. Registered, but inactive. The Green Party candidate for senator from the state of Washington has never voted.

The story went from blog post to newsprint in less than 24 hours which is remarkable given the obscurity of the candidate.

Now, it's not like the man beat his mother or anything (like the last candidate Goldstein took down) and we understand he's a good guy, but you'd think that the fact that he'd never voted before would make the Green Party think twice before they ushered him up on stage for a race against a Democratic incumbant. Are we getting older or is the Green Party getting crazier?

    Please.

Most elections there's no one worth voting for anyway--and half the public agrees.

Looks like the Dems and GOP aren't the only ones who take their base for granted.
