Are You Ready for Some Football?

0505000.jpgSome minor Washington football tidbits this morning:

--Emeka Iweka, our favorite high school basketball player, has decided to devote his 6-6, 290lb. body to football. He verbally committed to the UW football program. Iweka verbally committed to the Oregon State basketball program as a freshman. Apparently some people change priorities from their freshman to junior years of high school. Who knew?

The Times says Iweka will be a defensive end, the P-I says he projects as a tight end. But the P-I also says Iweka's only 240 lbs., and that's crazy.

--The Dawgs hired J.D. Williams, a former NFL DB, to coach the secondary. Williams had the same job with Cal the past four years. Williams is the brother of the late Curtis Williams, who was paralyzed below the neck in a 2000 game and died two years later. The Huskies' old DB coach, Steven Wilks, will coach the Chicago Bears' DBs next year, or at least those that aren't still shell-shocked from last year's NFC playoffs.

--Not football-related, but important. Eva Longoria says she's teaching the Spurs Tony Parker about love. Where can we sign up for this class?

"But Tony won't. ... He's only been with one other person in his life."

Must be wonderful to read that about yourself on CNN.com.
