Dear Editor: I am writing to talk about something that doesn't happen often in the music business. Our band "The Gousters" has hit the Top 50 Indie chart ( Roots Music Report ) on three occasions in the last month or so. We have no label and no money from anyone promoting us. RunningTimes Music commented: "It's almost unheard of but we hope this is an indicator of how indies are being taken more seriously." I'm a Vietnam Vet with 100% service-connected PTSD and my writing partner is a well know musician named Zander Schloss, bass player for "The Circle Jerks," one of L.A.'s founding punk bands still touring.

Sincerely,
Walt Cronin
"The Gousters"

The Gousters hit # 41 on Roots Music Report Tues March 21st, 2006

It's never too early to claim something's the best album of the year, and it's never too late to change your mind when a better one comes along.

We forgot to mention last week -- and by "we," I mean "I" -- that Neko performed on Leno last Thursday.

Thank god for YouTube. (And a rerun later this month.)

I was speaking of the fiscal year, which ends next month.
Actually, I have little faith in the rest of '06.

“It just sounds like a website,” she says. She’d rather her sound be dubbed “country noir” or “Americana,” …if anything at all.

I like y'allt-country myself. Mus' be the Texas in me coming out.
