We're not ones to keep score, you know, to count every little thing, but -- no, we're sorry. Can't keep a straight face.
The whole point of this post is to mention we got to this P-I story on the new Clover drip coffeemaker, oh, about 4.5 months ago. In fact, not only did we try a few cups at a private function, but we had some during a few-day trial run at Victrola Coffee. It may be an $8,000 machine made in Ballard but it rules. Yes, a damn fine cup of coffee. (Don't repeat that. We just made it up. It's ours.)
We were excited about that because we'd love some gourmet decaf drip, and believe me, if you sat within earshot of us at the Victrola, you'd be all for it, too. After two cups, there's no off on the genius switch. However, since the Victrolans are knee-deep in construction on a dedicated roasteria (codename V2), our needs are not always top-of-mind. [UPDATE: My goodness, you can possibly feel the love from where you're sitting. Jen from the Victrola just emailed to say that V2 will feature a brand-SPANKING-new Clover machine. Now all that remains is for us to park ourselves out front, and Mervyn's spokewoman-like, chant "Open, open, open!"]
Now that we've got your attention, we regret to inform you that [until V2's doors swing wide], you have to travel to Vancouver, B.C., or Portland to try some Clover coffee. Apparently we here in Seattle just aren't that interested in gourmet drip coffee. No, you just cannot get people interested in new coffee products around here. We tell you what we'd love to see though: a public demonstration of Clover at Gasworks Park, free samples, a little music. Maybe do it during the summer and call it a festival.
