(Political) Party Hopper Alert

Some guy on the east side just jumped ship from red to blue. Rodney Tom served two terms under the R-Bellevue flag in the state House of Reps, but announced today that he's going to run against the incumbant Republican state senator from Bellevue, Luke Esser as a Dem.

From the Seattle Times:

"I realized the far right has complete control of the party and for me to be effective for my constituents I need to be a Democrat," Tom said today.

Right on, Rodney Tom. He also talks about the move making sense in terms of the district's changing political bent and that's heartening as well. Is the east side getting more Democratic?

(And dig that website - It looks like a few policies won't be all he'll have to update for life as a Dem.)

  • We in the Young Democrats of Washington State welcome him with open arms and are going to try to get him to speak at our convention about being an Ex-republican.
