Washington Huskies Make Tournament...Again

Felton March Madness Cover.jpgSunday afternoon the Washington Huskies basketball team acted like they had been there before. CBS cameras captured the team politely reacting to the announcement that they had made the NCAA Tournament as a five seed.

Two years ago there was much excitement after the team rallied from a 0-5 start in conference play to make the field of 65. Last year everyone went, understandably, bat-shit insane when it was announced that the Huskies had captured a number one seed.

This is the first time the Huskies have made it to the tournament three straight seasons since the mid-eighties, a time when nobody knew where the beef was.

The Huskies will play at 6:45pm on Thursday versus the WAC runner-up, and 12 seed Aggies. No, not those crazy Texans who think they own numbers, but a Utah State squad whose physical play and experience will give Washington quite a tussle.

Those with free time on their hands may want to attend the game in San Diego. Heck, stay for the weekend and catch the World Baseball Classic at Petco Park. You may be able to cheer Ichiro on to victory. It was his lead off home run on Sunday against Team USA had us cheering, “Yaaaaaaaaaaaa…wait a minute.” However, if a US victory means that A-Rod becomes a hero, well then slap a Karl Marx t-shirt on our backs and call us Pierre.

The Husky women
will learn their fate at 4pm when the Women’s bracket is announced.

A big pllfft to the Seattle Times for not including blank brackets in yesterday's newspaper. We like to fill out the brackets as they're announced, but the Times told me I'd have to go to their website for brackets.

Um, if I wanted to go to the website, I'd stop paying you $48/month and just read everything online for free.
