Make A Video For Pretty Girls Make Graves
Pretty Girls Make Graves rock and their label Matador Records also rocks and, thirdly, new-web-order-2.0-thing You Tube rocks as well. You rock also, of course, and we don't want that to go without saying. Four great flavors --that's you, Pretty Girls, Matador and You Tube-- are coming together to make you (or more likely some freaky A/V kid from Montana, honestly, but give it a shot) the author of the new Pretty Girls Make Graves video.
You Tube wants you to download PGMG's track "Nocturnal House" and do their work for them by whipping up a video and posting it (ahem, "giving it" according to the fine print) to the You Tube website. If you win they'll give you a grand and fly you out to see the band perform in NYC while 20 runners up get a bunch of schwag. Actually the prizes aren't that great or imaginative and mostily follow along in the grand tradition of lame music industry contest prizes ("Metallica plays your prom!"), but being the winner of the first ever You Tube music video contest should be worth something and we love the contest premise. Actually, don't even bother entering this thing because Seattlest just had an idea that's going to win it. Forget we said anything about this at all, in fact. You never heard anything about this contest and you certainly didn't hear of Seattlest's stop-motion Barbie and moonscape diorama web-cam video for "Nocturnal House" complete with moon rover pink corvette and dream house space station.
