All The News That's Fit To Post

-A fire west of I-5 on East Newton Street was extinguished so recently that if you rubber-neck on your way home you may see firefighters and reporters sifting through the rubble. There is already an insane quote from a resident, though: "Now I'm going through exactly what all my friends in Louisiana are going through." Oh yeah, it's exactly the same.

-Vulcan announced something that may actually be pretty cool for once. They're putting up a building of loft style residences at Denny and Westlake.

-Ok, so there has been precious little Olympic glory for area athletes so far, but at least one area dog-handler is enjoying a tiny spot of national attention. Anders Thoreson of Snohomish and his little dog Topper won the Westminster Kennel Club junior-handler championship for youths 18 and under. Congrats Anders and dog.

-Once again Alaska Airlines had problems performing under pressure, or, in this case, a lack thereof. Five passengers were hospitalized after an Alaska Airlines 737 depressurized en route to Denver yesterday.

Ankrom Moisan is the architect for the new Vulcan building. They have dones some great buildings in the Pearl District in Portland. Looks like Vulcan chose well this time.
