There will always be someone willing to risk it to sell to daddy's little girl at trust fund prices.

I wonder if these guys are as gone as the newspaper reports make it seem and whether the ave is in for some hard times as people look to fill the void... Someone's going to sell on the Ave - If it's not these East African guys who's it gonna be?

As a UDistrict resident, I've seen this gang of homies on the Ave for quite a while now. It was a noticable shift when they came in and took control of the turf. The drugs supply stabilized, and they chased off some of the tweakers.

It is comical the way that the police regulate the drug trade on the Ave. During the summer, when Daddy's Little Girl is back home in Suburbia, the streets are awash with every flavor of intoxicant at cut rate prices. Then a week before the students come back to town, homies are going to jail left and right.

ha, I had a different take on that. If you're joe college student trying to score a few grams it's a pretty good bet that there won't be any visible guns involved in the transaction. I guess it depends on exactly what kind of drug deal we're talking about. Somehow I doubt that Scarface is showing up on the Ave with suitcases for these guys.

On KPLU this morning someone said that this gang was "terrorizing" UW students, but it seems more likely that they were just giving them much-needed narcotic study aids.

I like this description from the SPD: "The gang ... has been known to conduct open-air drug deals involving guns."

As opposed to--what--open-air drug deals not involving guns? I think if you are dealing drugs, you are carrying a gun. It's like saying "open-air hot dog sales involving buns."
