Sonics to Taxpayers: Um...can you guys give us a point guard, too?

sonics.JPGLast night, the Sonics played a mediocre team, the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. The mediocre team lost their only two point guards to injury. Yet the Sonics still lost.

Is there anyone the Sonics can beat?

The point guard situation is persistently dismal. "Flip" Murray, a pure scorer, continues as the backup point guard, with predictable results. During a recent radio broadcast, color man Craig Ehlo chastised other Sonics for standing around and watching when "Flip" has the ball, but since "Flip" never passes, it's hard to blame his teammates for not trying to get open.

Down low, opposing teams have realized that the Sonics' "Twin Toddlers"--young centers Robert Swift and Johan Petro--can't guard anyone with moves. Athletic big men, like Melvin Ely (season-high 23 points), David West (26 points) and even Erick Dampier (11 points and 14 rebounds) killed the Sonics on their 0-4 road trip.

In happier news, Supersonicsoul put a hilarious caption on a picture of Howard Schultz with Kenny G.

And, as Ted Turner once said during a long Atlanta Braves losing streak: "Look on the bright side--we're making lots of people happy in other cities."
