Evidently fed up with left-wing bias on current radio home KJR 950, the Sonics are moving their radio broadcast to right-wing talk station KTTH ("The Truth") 770 next season.
KTTH is home to right-wing ranters Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Michael Medved and Bill Bennett. One silver lining to the move--Bill O'Reilly, who airs from 6pm-8pm, would frequently be pre-empted during basketball season.
As part of the move, the Sonics will eliminate their current simulcast format, in which the radio and TV announcing is the same. Instead, there will be a separate radio team. So popular and talented play-by-play man Kevin Calabro will have a slightly (very slightly) different role. When the games are on TV, he'll do the TV broadcasts only, with a separate, as yet unannounced team handling the radio play-by-play. For games that are radio-only, Calabro will take over the radio play-by-play duties, and the other team will protest against the War on Christmas.
It could be an ugly awakening for Sonics' management if Calabro adheres to his new station's mission statement:
Truth - Some people can't handle it, sometimes it's ugly, & some people are afraid to say it. We say you deserve the truth: 770 KTTH.
Nothing could be uglier than the truth about the Sonics.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days

I did not care about the sonics before and now I will expecially not listen to them or care about them. This is one reason why I don't want to see one dime of public goverment funds spent on sports.
I should point out that "The Truth" won't make any money directly off of this deal--the Sonics are producing the broadcasts and retaining all the advertising revenues. 770 is only providing their airwaves--and that goes to show that the Bill O'Reilly show probably isn't making them money, or they wouldn't be willing to pre-empt it.
