A Mom & Pop Night At Central Cinema

IndAmerica6sm.JPGTonight Seattlest is heading over to Central Cinema to catch Independent America: The Two-Lane Search For Mom & Pop. The 80-minute documentary was made by a couple who traveled 13,000 miles across the U.S., obeying two rules: 1) use no interstates, and 2) only stop at mom & pop stores. It's an exploration of the small businesses that keep America strong, terrorist-free, and cavity-resistant, the successes they're having and the many stresses they still face.

The filmmakers have even blogged about their Seattle stop (they'll be discussing the film between the 6:45pm and 9:00pm shows).

If you don't have time for dinner before the 6:45pm show, you can dine at the theater. (Here's the pdf of the menu.) That's how Seattlest is planning to roll, we'll tell you that right now.

The evening is sponsored by BALLE Seattle, your friendly neighborhood "local economy" organization. They will be the people mentioning terms like "sustainability" and "CSA." They're harmless, so no worries.
