Weekend Slopes Roundup

crystal-skier.jpgWe may not have broken the 33-day rain record (though we got some props for sheer volume), but over the past week the temps have been dropping, turning our current non-record-breaking Seattle rain into mountain snow. We only whine about the rain when it isn't making snow up top, so now that the season has finally hit, we'll shut up and slap on the sticks.

The weather service released a heavy snow warning for the passes, projecting up to 10-18" of new snow in the Cascades, so this weekend is lining up to be mighty delicious. Both Baker and Stevens Pass have substantial snowpacks building, and Alpental has been quickly catching up--today's tallys for the major resorts are listed below. After this weekend, we predict Alpie will open the backcountry, but in the meantime we'll be checking out Crystal Mountain for the first time this year.
