Movie Happenings: From Sisterhood to Scatology
On the off chance that you simply don't have enough estrogen in your life currently, this evening the UW's Hub will play host to the annual LUNA Fest, a "by women, about women" film festival now in its 5th year. The standout entry will likely be One Weekend A Month, about a single mom who gets enlisted to Iraq thanks to her weekend National Guard gig. All proceeds from the event go to the Breast Cancer fund and local women's organizations. This member of the Seattlest family will be in the house, handing out LUNA bars until they come out your ears.
If you need a beer chaser to the estrogen shot from tonight, head over to the Egyptian theater at midnight on Friday, and empty your dirty little mouth. Landmark and the Stranger are hosting a midnight showing of The Aristocrats, a movie by Paul Provenza and Penn Jillette (yes, that guy), in which over 50 different comedians tell the same dirty joke. We've heard nothing but great things about this movie, especially Sarah Silverman's rendition; the Stranger is providing their own twist by allowing members of the audience to come on stage before the movie starts, and tell their favorite dirty joke. We've got a winner involving a penguin in the desert, but you'll just have to show up to see if we break it out or not.
