Any remaining pith in the song Sweet Home Alabama: Originally penned as a retort to Neil Young's Southern Man (message: shut up, Neil, you ignorant shit), it's been co-opted to honor the Seahawks' playoff run. "Dustin Blatnik and the 12th Man Band" have repurposed the anthem as "Sweet Shaun Alexander." KJR-AM is playing it, and other Seahawks-inspired rock. The Greenlake Albertson's: The building's been sold. The P-I speculates that the store, which has anchored East Green Lake since 1956, will be torn down for...condos! Albertson's won't say exactly when they are closing the store, only that they will be.
Wycliffe "Bubba" Morton: The former pinch-hitting righty, who played seven seasons in the major leagues, and finished his baseball career in Seattle with the PCL's Angels, is dead. After retiring from baseball he stayed in Seattle, coached the University of Washington baseball team (the first African-American head coach in school history), worked at Boeing, and was athletic director at Bush School. And, from his obituary, it seems like he was an all-around great guy, and someone who'd be unlikely to watch...
