i live in the area where this happened! this is all alsakas airlines fault . thay decied to fire all the the regular baggage handlers and bring in cheap labor. i know a few peolpe that work for Menzies .Menzies pay the baggae people 8/hr and there supervisors make 10/hr . So alaska airlines is getting what they paid for. I flew on alsakaa few weeks ago and i was happy to get the luggage . Also i have a few frinds with alsaka airlines and have been told that what we hear in the public 1 out of 25 things that Menzies screws up on.

I flew them to Palm Springs over New Years. They forgot to load our luggage down there. We spent over two hours at SEATAC trying to find out where it was. Waited in line, didn't have our luggage delivered to our house until 24 hours later. Missed a day of work waiting for it! It was pure chaos and they never even apologized! What happened to them??

I agree with that the Menzies subcontractors need to shape up or ship out, but the claim about the emergency lighting has been distorted by the media. According to my source, the aircraft in question was operated in a mixed passenger/cargo configuration and the emergency exits with the defective lights were in the forward cargo section and thus would not have been used by passengers in the event of an emergency landing.
