Seldom do Capitol Hillbillies venture beyond El Greco, 611 Supreme, or the B & O for Sunday Brunch. Queen Anners always amble toward the apex of their acclivity and invariably arrive at the 5 Spot or Queen Anne Cafe. Fremonties go to The Dish or, if they can get a table, Persimmon. Located just beyond the outer reaches of civilized neighborhoods, The Wild Mountain Cafe gives everyone a reason for a Sunday drive. We've got three words for you, "Garlic potato cakes." See, you're already searching for your keys.
The Wild Mountain Cafe is a craftsman style home that has been converted into a quaint restaurant and bar. The tables are squeezed into two rooms, and the bar is in another. There are fresh baked goods and plenty of of the standard bruch fare. We highly recommend saving room for some delicious coffee cake--baked fresh daily and when it runs out, you're out of luck. They make a wicked eggs benedict with lox ($10.75) and their version of a Mexican quiche, La Cabana ($8.75), features garlic-cumin seasoned eggs and great chicken sausage.
The serivce is curt and quick. They've got a turn-and-burn attitude at brunch because there are always people waiting for tables. This doesn't mean that they'll edge you toward the door. They want you to enjoy your experience--just experience it as quickly as possible, please!
The owners believe in putting back into the community. The Wild Mountain is part of a pilot program directed by City of Seattle and King County to use a commercial worm bin for composting their own soil. They use food scraps and coffee grounds to feed the worms which, in turn, produce soil for their garden.
Great food and a green conscience; two concepts that work exceptionally well together at the Wild Mountain Cafe, and did we mention the garlic potato cakes?

As a card-carrying employee of Wild Mountain, I have to thank everyone for the glowing review, but I just wanted to say that we are closed until Wed. the 28th and, we also do lunch and dinner, not just breakfast!
I know you guys serve more than breakfast. I can just never seem to move away from those tasty breakfast treats!
