Gatesisis Named People of the Year

person-of-the-year.jpgSeattle's own Bill Gates was named Time magazine's Man, or "Person," of the Year. Well, he and that wife of his, Melinda, who will share the honor with 'You Too' front man Bono.

The magazine chose the three because of their, "charitable work and activism, and not because, "we needed to pick two white people and a foreigner, " like in 1987.

The Medina couple's Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (selfishly named after themselves) has a $28.8 billion endowment, which it uses to improve world health and provide internet access to schools and libraries in poor regions of the country. According to Time their foundation gave away more money faster than anyone else this past year. In second place was Mariners GM Bill Bavasi (zing).

The magazine also claims that "natural disasters are terrible things…" Bravo to Time for saying what other mainstream media outlets don't have the guts to tell the public. We are talking to you, Anderson "I Love Hurricanes" Cooper--sack up man.

That's a nice one, David. The high heat, and on a Monday. I tip my hat, sir. I tip my hat!

Bono joins Christopher Cross as the only men to win both "Man of the Year" and a Grammy.
