We Shop in Belltown - Velocity Art & Design

Velocity Art & Design has the aesthetic we love--modern, clean, warm. Co-owners and co-founders John Tusher and Lara Coffman Tusher have obvisously spent a lot of time culling the talents of artists and craftsman from around the country. While they do carry reissues of mid-century staples like Nelson, Noguchi, and the Eameses , we really like their desire to foster contemporary artists with similar design philosophies.

gl_candy4_s.jpgThey are the only store in Seattle to carry Glide, Inc. lights. These modular lights allow an array of configurations and are fun and fresh without being over the top. They utilize LED lighting, which if design theory is to be believed, is the way of the future. LEDs use less voltage and last much longer than standard filament bulbs.

perch_Early Bird_s.jpgPerch, another hot, contemporary designer who works in ceramics is also featured at Velocity. The Lightfoot Light and Early Bird Light are twee enough for any Tullycraft fan, but classy enough for your aunt. Perch gets a lot of mileage from their avian themes--from salt & pepper shakers to suspended containers--and they all fit well into the heavily curated showroom.

The larger pieces we are in love with come from 3 Square Design. If you're feeling generous, how about you get that Michael Cannamela credenza for us for Christmas? We've been really good.

The Velocity Showroom is located at 2118 2nd Ave

hmmm, sounds like 8bit jake has the wrong store in mind...I've never seen euro-anything at Velocity. My roomates and I have all shopped there, and had nice experiences with nice staff. they were really great about an exchange, too. we heart velocity.

  • I have been in there three time and each time the staff was a dick to me. If I wanted to get high priced euro-hipster things for my place I could go to IKEA and not have to deal with the crap.
