MP3 Of The Week: Following Directions 101

guitar.JPGThis woman just can't follow directions. This Ali Marcus. "Send us the url to a freely downloadable MP3 written and performed by you," we said, and she sends in a link to an entire album's worth of Windows Media formatted files. We don't know where she thinks she's going in life with an attitude like that, but might Seattlest suggest something in the "creative field."

Ali said in an email, "I am releasing my album next week on my own record label, and the label is interesting in that the recordings are free." We'd like to say, yes, free digital downloads make a label interesting, but what also helps are good free digitial downloads and we seem to have them here. All of these tracks are a woman singing and a guitar, which, in all honesty, is not really Seattlest's speed. We found ourselves digging these, though, so there's a chance that you might like them as well, despite the fact that what Seattlest likes and what healthy and functioning individuals like aren't always the same thing. Anyway, we sorted through the bunch and are naming "Summer Rain" Seattlest's MP3 Of The Week. Since we're so terribly bad at describing music with any accuracy whatsoever and our comparisons are always flat out wrong why don't you read a little of this song for yourself:

this is a one-way disaster
as if she'd come if you only asked her
as if I'd be there

but it's later
and the sun is the same
only in a different place
my sky has a whole different face now
there is space now where there didn't used to be
like the ghost of a sailboat on the open sea
something was haunting me

No, no. No. You're not reading it right. C'mon, you're not even trying. Here, listen to it once - It's called Summer Rain. Ok, now go back and read it again - You should be able to do it right. Man, can anyone follow directions around here?

Here's a link to the whole album.

Again, for those who can only learn through mind-numbing repetition: send us a link to a freely available MP3 written and performed by you and Seattlest will consider it for the MP3 Of The Week.
