Stalk of the Town
This weekend, Seattlest will be representing at a high school basketball game, a chamber music concert, a church in Burien, and Alderwood Babies-R-Us, respectively. For the full 411, see below.
Audrey's watching HBO's happy-go-lucky AIDS film. Tomorrow, she'll evince her newly-found concern for third-world poverty and disease by going Christmas shopping downtown. Sunday afternoon, find her at the Triple Door, having successfully weaselled her way into the KEXP event with Morcheeba.
Sunday morning, most Seattlests will be avoiding church, causing baby Jesus to cry. But not Margaret, who'll be singing a solo at a Christian Scientist Church in Burien.
James will be crib shopping--and this new father isn't talking about apartment hunting. He'll be looking for an actual crib for his beautiful baby daughter at the Alderwood Babies R Us. This is, he tells us, terminally uncool, but there you have it: the stark realities of early parenthood. He hopes to see a movie as well, possibly the new Sarah Silverman flick. Ask our North Carolinian friend Jason about Sarah Silverman and he will sigh dreamily and say "that girl's got a dirty mouth."
Donte plays Ping-Pong on Friday and will enjoy the Detroit collective Three Chairs at the Baltic Room on Saturday.
For Seth, it's high school basketball Friday. Tonight, prep phenom Spencer Hawes leads Seattle Prep against Ingraham. Saturday, the 11pm showing of Pootie Tang at the Grand Illusion. And Sunday he'll be watching the Gonzaga-UW basketball game, though he's not sure whether he'll buy scalped tix or just watch on the TV.
Editor Dan's reserved some quality time with his couch for Friday night, he'll be watching the movie "Save the Green Planet," which he regrets to have missed at NWFF. Saturday he hopes to get both to the public opening of 826 Seattle and to Seattlest Kristofer's new bookshop. That night, a performance of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" by the acclaimed dramatists of Newport High.
Seattlest Gina has a hankerin' for cheap hot dogs and disassembled Swedish furniture. If anyone knows where she might get both of these things, preferably in a warehouse setting, please let us know.
Michael Baker once made a promise to a dying boy: "Timmy, I'll never say no to free chamber music." So at 2:30 on Saturday, you bet he'll be at the Frye Art Museum for the program given by Music of Remembrance: On the bill is Paul Schoenfield's "Camp Songs" and Lori Laitman's "The Seed of Dream."
Seattlest Molly will be channeling Martha Stewart and Mrs. Claus by getting started on her annual Christmas craftiness. Making spiced apple butter, linzer cookies, fruit-and-nut balls (fruity! nutty! balls!), bourbon balls, and the like. Lots of balls at her place. Martha would be proud.
Matt Silvie's letting a couple of girls lead him by the nose to a wine tasting Friday and shopping at Banana Republic on Saturday. Thanks, Matt, for reminding us why we decided to join the priesthood.
