Holiday Travel And You

cctv157.jpgTraffic that's headed over the mountians has so far failed to materialize into the predicted nightmare, but don't let Seattlest talk you out of staying put in Seattle. The official word out of WSDOT remains, "Don't do it."

We need your help! We know this is a sacrifice, but please avoid traveling across the Cascades during the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend.

Expect significant delays when crossing the Cascades from Tuesday, November 22 though Sunday, November 27. Despite the extraordinary efforts by work crews, we won't get all lanes of I-90 open in time for Thanksgiving holiday travelers. All routes, including Stevens and White passes, will be severely affected.

If you must travel across the mountain passes, be prepared for significant delays. Fill your gas tank, check your tire treads, and be sure your car is in good condition. Consider packing a winter emergency car kit. Be ready for snow and ice. Your safety is at stake if you get stuck on the pass.

That seems pretty clear, unlike the skies around SeaTac. It's foggy, but so far things are running smoothly there and they have some extra security lines open to deal with the increased volume.

Southbound traffic north of the city looks a little sketchy right now , but it looks like there won't be anything in your way heading north or south.

FYI, there is a new pass-cam for the mess at Snoqualamie. See http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/passes/snoqualmie/
