jesus-sports.jpgThe Husky football team, helped by a Hail Mary touchdown pass to end the second half, became the first state school to win a Pac-10 game this season, beating Arizona 38-14. The Dawgs host the Apple Cup next Saturday.

The Seahawks put a death lock on the NFC West, beating division rival St. Louis for the second time this season. Shawn Alexander scored three touchdowns, the last capping a five-and-a-half minute fourth quarter drive that iced the win. The Hawks play at San Francisco next week.

The Sonics won a game, albeit in overtime, albeit against league laughingstock Toronto, albeit in a game that wasn't televised. They play at New Jersey Tuesday.

The Husky men's basketball team beat Morgan (that's Morgan, not Oregon) State by 67 points. They forced 36 turnovers. Best sign of the night? Hans Gasser knocking down 18-foot jumpers with precision. It's on to the semifinals of the Black Coaches Classic tonight. The Dawgs face Wisconsin-Green Bay at 6pm. Tickets are available at Hec Ed.

The second-ranked Husky women's volleyball team lost their first match of the season, a five-game nailbiter at UCLA. They still hold a two game lead in the Pac 10, with three games left. They are home Thursday for a game against Oregon (not Morgan) State.

Japanese free agent catcher Kenji Jojima visited town, meeting with Mariner brass and touring Seattke with his family. The Mariners, facing the prospect of a Yorvit Torrealba/Rene Rivera platoon at catcher, are desperate to sign the .300-hitting catcher.
