Talk About A Long Flight
Thirty-five journos and Guinness officials (plus two air crews) are loaded into a Boeing 777 that began an attempt at the record books this morning. The flight is trying for the record for the longest continuous commercial flight and will be in the air for nearly twenty three hours as it circles the globe from Hong Kong to London.
This sounds to Seattlest like the set-up to a hot new reality TV show more than a world record stunt. Almost a full day in the cabin with journalists and engineers? Ouch! We couldn't even handle the full 24 hours of Mindcamp over the weekend and that was stocked with 150 of the most interesting people Puget Sound has to offer (hahahahaha, ahem, sorry). Of course, that was an alcohol-free event for some reason. Making the 36th passenger a bar tender would go a long way towards making this flight less Society for Professional Journalists chapter meeting and more Real World.
Well, we know there won't be adequate alcohol on-board because everything from the fuel to the passengers' luggage to the passengers themselves was carefully weighed before the flight. Fuel: 360,732 lbs. Thirty five journalists: ???? lbs. Hopefully they at least have that Connexion gear on the plane.
