Ghouls Around the World, Join Hands

mini-VancouverFiredemon.JPGIf you have an anklebiter, we think the absolute best place to be during the Halloween season is on the Ghost Train in Stanley Park in Vancouver. It’s well worth the journey north as the Mortal Coil Performance Society has transformed this quaint kiddie train ride into a spooky, colorful, and often funny journey into the Mexican Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

As the locomotive slowly chugs through the dark woods, boney fingers reach out toward you, fire demons come charging, towering skeletons dance, and a troupe of Frida Kahlos dance in a graveyard. The Seattlest recently took our six-year-old son there and after the ride he declared: "This is the best day of my life." We agree and we’re at least twice his age. Adults get in for $8.50 and kids $5 —that’s Canadian, so it’s a bargain. Ends November 2.
