Seattlest doesn't normally do the rave thing, and we would never even consider going to Burning Man, but we're kind of curious about the October 15th Internal Combustion event, described as "an underground trance dance gathering at a place like no other," only because where its taking place, that underground tunnel by Stevens Pass, is in fact a place like no other: site of the historic 1910 Stevens Pass avalanche that killed 96 people aboard two trains stalled in the snow. Having a rave/trance party in such a place seems kind of like screening The Shining at a birthday party for an orphan who's dad went insane and killed people with an ax. Or maybe its not totally comparable with that, but still...
A friend of our's who will remain nameless says that when he attended a previous incarnation of the tunnel party in years past, he ventured forth in to a part of the tunnel where he was able to enjoy total sensory deprivation, which might explain why drug use at the party has hitherto been officially deemed "unnecessary."
Music acts will consist of such acts as the self-described "world's only luddite laptopist" Filastine of Post World Industries, plus the much-hyped Infernal Noise Brigade.
Directions to the tunnel in question are sketchy at best. Going east-bound Highway 2 from Seattle, you have to drive past Stevens, make a u-turn at the first possible chance (if memory serves this is the Smith Lake Road exit), and drive back west until right before the guard rail emerges before the summit, find a mysterious dirt road that allegedly exists, and descend down toward the elusive tunnel. Seattlest may have to conduct a little reconnaissance operation in the daylight prior to the night of the party on Saturday October 15th. You, dear reader, would be wise to do like-wise.

Friendly Folk-Pop for the Kids: Hey Marseilles at Vera This Saturday

I'm trying to find a lineup for this, every Google hit just states that Infernal Noise Brigade is playing.
Does anyone know who is in charge of this event? My friend lost her camera there and I wanted to know who I can call.
Thank you.
