Pound Pup of the Week: Meet Larry

Larry.jpgOctober is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month...and in support of such a noble pursuit, Seattlest is pleased to present you with our Pound Pup of the Week.

We're also proud to present our own patented translator for the code words you'll encounter when looking for a dog. Much in the same way that in real estate ads a "peek view" means "hang your head out the window and on a clear day you may see a mountain or some water" and "bring your imagination" means "bring the demolition crew," the kind folk who are hoping to give these pups a new home tend to present the pertinent information in a coded manner.

Without further ado, meet Larry. Who can resist a dog named Larry? Larry is a five-year-old, so he won't require the same amount of effort as a new puppy, and he's already house-trained. He also seems to have cute little freckles.

The downside? Here's where the code comes in.

Larry "loves to chase small critters like squirrels." Read: No cats. Need fenced yard.

"I already know sit and I am really treat motivated, so I will be a fast learner on other commands." Read: Larry's only command is sit. You'll be doing some obedience work with Larry.

Larry "does well with gentle children." Read: Spazzy kids freak Larry out. No spazzy kids.

All in all, a pretty clean slate as far as dogs go. We think Larry's a keeper. Larry awaits you at the Seattle Animal Shelter.

If you're interested in adopting a dog (or cat, or whatever sort of petlike animal), try our local animal shelters: the Seattle Animal Shelter on 15th Ave NW (near Utilikilts) or the King County Humane Society (right off 90 in Bellevue). You can also pre-shop at Petfinder, though we are not responsible for obsessive use of this site.
