Hey, It's a Lark - Go Vote Tomorrow

vote.jpgIt's a primary election of merely local consequence and you have little to no idea who or what is being decided, much less which way you should vote. Additionally, the last time you visited your local polling place the day was capped by emotional scarrification the likes of which you will never recover from should you live through a dozen more Red State administrations. Go vote on the way to work tomorrow anyway. It's just a good habit to get into.

Seattlest has mock elections bi-weekly just to keep us in practice. We each get a ballot from a friendly "elections official" and take it into our converted peep show booth where we angrily, proudly, maliciously, with great trepidation, determination, resignation, absence of forthought --as the case may be-- scribble into tiny printed ovals. When we emerge from behind the curtain we heft our completed ballot in triumphant arms before slamming it with prejudice into the awaiting garbage can. A blow has been struck for democracy!

If you haven't moved since November you remember where your polling place is. If you have moved the chances are high that you neglected to change your voter registration and your old polling place is expecting you anyway. If you recently moved and recently registered to vote you can find your polling place here. Don't expect to wait in any lines this time around.

There are, of course, some voter cheat sheets out there and Seattlest has some ideas about who you should be voting for, but since it's a primary why don't you go it alone this time and decide for yourself with the offical Voter's Pamphlet. Consider it a fun exercise and a test of your ability to read between the lines and determine hyperbole from outright lies. For those that go out of their way to avoid any unnecessary reading, King County also offers a video version which is available here. Watch it at work with the volume turned all the way up and when your co-workers come running from across the office to get in on what they'll surely believe to be a humorous video clip of yesterday's Daily Show tell them the joke is on the opponents of democracy, because you're voting Tuesday.
