Some Music for This Weekend

ipodnano.gifAs far as live music this weekend, may we recommend the crazy (or crazee, if you will) the Black Keys at Neumo's tonight. If you like the Liars or any noise rock band, etc, then they are for you.

Tomorrow, Mercury Prize winner Antony & the Johnsons are playing at the Triple Door. Antony & the Johnsons have one of the most unique sounds you can imagine. Back in the day we saw them back Lou Reed, and we thought their sound was like Magnetic Fields after being kicked in the 'nads. For the record, we are not proud of that analogy, but what are you gonna do. That said, they won the prestigious Mercury Prize beating out Coldplay, the Block Party and MIA, which is pretty darned impressive.

Stellastarr* is playing at Chop Suey tomorrow night and their album is getting a lot of buzz. We have also been told by a friend that they are one of the cutest bands out there, so if you want some indie rock eye candy, there you go.

On the music news front, we here at Seattlest are big fans of Apple and the effect they have had on digital music. Their iTunes digital music store has shown the record industry that everyone with a computer is not necessarily a pirate and that there is a way to make money in the digital age. Well, those crazy kids at Cupertino have really come up with something super-slick. If you preorder the new Depeche Mode album, you will get priority access to buy tickets from Ticketmaster. That is pretty darn slick and a really neat way to get people to buy their albums instead of downloading it from your favorite torrent site.
