the phinney ridge location is the best of them, and there ARE some folks who have passed through who are skilled. the problem is they don't stay there very long. the ones who do tend to be the folks who barely got their license, or whose meth/heroin habit is supported by gainful employment.

i highly recommend Helmet Head down in Georgetown. nice place, long-time staff, friendly dog, and if you're nice, maybe a beer while ya wait. and the cuts actually come out how you hoped.

I have nothing but good things to say about Alyson at the Rudy's in Fremont. I'm a bit biased as she is my friend first and my stylist second but she does a great job every time. There is something to be said about having the same person cut your hair each time, that way you can provide feedback and if you tip well, come in with clean hair and are nice you might even get a scalp massage.

The rest of their shops? Putrid. Absolutly terrible and obnoxious rude personnel.

You're right that the Phinney Ridge Rudy's stylists are nice and friendly. But again, at the Aveda Institute you'd be paying less (guy's cuts are always cheaper, probably on the $12 end of things) and would more than likely end up with a better cut. I'm just sayin'.

Hey! I get my hairs cut at Rudy's. Well, alright, I've only been to the Phinney one which I understand is kind of Rudy's Light. It's $17 and what do you expect for less than twenty bucks? Tea service and a decent hair cut? Hell no, you expect shorter hair. And they've always been friendly.
