Are you dieting? Looking for a non-chemical, non-habit-forming appetite suppressant? May Seattlest suggest...the King County Online Food Inspection Reports.

Simply type in the name of your favorite local, and the program spits back the filthy truth, conveniently color-coded into red critical violations and blue plain-old regular violations. There's all sorts of health-related violations, like food not kept at the right temperature and the like, but what really grosses us out is the (apparently standard) lack of upkept handwashing facilities in most Seattle restaurants.

Some high/lowlights:

Deano's: Squeaky clean!

Dick's on 45th: Clean!

Beth's on Aurora: Surprisingly clean!

13 Coins: Cited for no sneeze guard!

Endolyne Joe's: "Pooling of eggs"--no thanks!

Canlis: You'll pay a lot...and it's not as clean as Deano's.

The Five Point: Greasy-spoon gross!

Now we just need it as a Widget.

Check out how "clean" Osaka Grill is. People there is a reason why that place has been dubbed Scary-Yaki. YIKES!

That is so great that Deanos which is a notorious drug dealing/doing hangout is cleaner than the 5 Point. I don't know about you all, but my wife and I might start doing it up right on date night at Deanos from now on. I mean who want's to eat at dirty old 5 Point when you can dine in style at Deanos.

  • Their score of 91 last year -- including such popular hits as "Foods not protected from actual and potential contamination (uncovered, double stacked, or not under a sneeze guard)" -- is why I'll never try Ying's Drive In on Lake City Way even though I pass it just about every day.

    Ignorance is bliss.
