Northwest Aid

tn_Picture1018_jpg.jpgThe Big Easy is either slipping further into decay or seeing the light at the end of the tunnel today, depending on which news outlet you've been paying particular attention to (Seattlest is partial to this guy holed up in a downtown tower and the NO Indymedia outlet) or which area of the city you're talking about. Sending money is a good idea and there are plenty of places that will happily facilitate that, beginning, of course, with the Red Cross. Check out the KING5 Relief page for more options, including The Northwest Medical Teams.

Seattlest has been looking hard for some local music benefits to display in this space, but so far either nothing has been organized or we've been too inept to come across them. If you're aware of something happening over the weekend post it in the comments and we'll update this post with it. Tonight at St. James Cathedralat 9th and Marion there is a vigil planned for 6:30 that will include Gregorian Chanting if your musical tastes run that way.

  • There's no need to go out to a Katrina fundraising event when you can stay at home and watch tonight's Concert for Hurricane Relief, featuring a calvacade of stars, including Lindsay Lohan---a not-so-natural disaster in her own right.

There was an event at the War Room on Wednesday, but I haven't heard about any other musical benefits (yet) either. The Big PIcture is having a movie benefit screening of The Big Easy next week.
