"Rock'n'Roll" Poster Show
Fans of the "rock'n'roll" genre will presumably enjoy tonight's "Art of Modern Rock" exhibition held in conjunction with the Flatstock poster show series presented by the American Poster Institute. The Seattle Times already scooped Seattlest's team of investigative journalists on the story, but we think the show merits worth mentioning again, in so much as this may turn out to be the only part of the Bumbershoot festival certain members of Seattlest will see this year.
Artists exhibited include: Andrio Abero, Aesthetic Apparatus, Marco Almera, Ames Bros., Mark Arminski, Asterik Studio, Glenn Barr, Sasha Barr, Andrew Bawidamann, Leia Bell, Lee Bolton, Jamie Burton, Guy Burwell, Jeff Carr, Art Chantry, Randel Chavez, Jacob Covey, James Rheem Davis, Decoder Ring Design Concern, D'holbachie-Yoko, Emek, Lisa Eng, Factor 27, Firehouse, Ellen Forney, John Foster, David Gallo, Gary Grimshaw, Justin Hampton, Lyman Hardy, Heads of State, Derek Hess, Gary Houston, John Howard, Craig Howell, Mike King, Jeff Kleinsmith, Frank Kozik, Lindsey Kuhn, Jesse LeDoux, Dennis Loren, Jessica Lynch, Malleus, Methane Studios, Mike Martin, Jacob McMurray, Tara McPherson, Nocturnal Showprint, Gerrixx Ovvarc, Pablo, Craig Phillips, Jim Phillips, Jimbo Phillips, Tommy Pons, Print Mafia, Psychic Sparkplug, Jermaine Rogers, Jay Ryan, August Sandberg, Scrojo, John Seabury, Serigraphie Populaire, Chris Shaw, The Small Stakes, Ward Sutton, Uncle Charlie, Devon Varmega, Justin Walsh, Joe Whyte, Shawn Wolfe, Jeff Wood, and [allegedly] thousands more.
One of the show's curators, Jacob Covey, had this to say about the show's status as of a few minutes ago:
We're pretty pleased with the outcome. The exhibit looks pretty slick with three multi-media projections, a buncha artwork, and crazy '60s furniture for sitting your arse down. We were paid nothing to do this so feel free to buy an Unflown poster while you're there. Or don't. Setting fire to them, however, will be totally frowned upon.
Art of Modern Rock: The Poster Explosion, at the Olympic Room, in the Northwest Rooms of Seattle Center, Tonight, August 31, from 6-9pm. This building is directly to the left of the Key Arena main entrance.
