Way back in Seattlest's infancy (ah, February) we encouraged you to attend the silent movie series at The Paramount. We took our own advice on that one, and we have to say that the experience was incredible. We saw the world through black and white glasses for days afterwards until modern life yanked us from our 1919 fantasy.
That's why we were so grateful for the reminder that another silent series was beginning at the theater, and words cannot express our anguish at missing the Buster Keaton films of last week. Ok, words can express it. We're pissed. We're also not going to make that mistake again. We accept that The Boat and The Navigator are in the past. They happened last Monday without us. If you were there, tell us how it was. The Buster Keaton Festival rolls on tonight, though, with Our Hospitality and The High Sign.
From The Paramount's description of The High Sign:
Classic sequences include a chase through a series of trapdoors at the gang's hideout and Keaton poring through the want ads in an endlessly unfolding newspaper.
Scenes like those are exactly why you know the name Buster Keaton. If a chase through a series of trapdoors or an endlessly unfolding newspaper doesn't sound funny to you, we can see where you're coming from, but you still need to lighten up. Anyway, as we noted in our February post, the real reason to attend these films is to listen to Dennis James rock the Wurlitzer organ.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days
