P-I Meets Up

pi_globe_top.gifA professional journalist was dispatched to last week's Seattle bloggers meet-up. Write ups have been online since five minutes after the event, but the Post Intelligencer's appears in today's paper as well as online, and we'd like to offer a very special congratulations to the paper today for finally doing the links right.

From the P-I:

For the members of the Seattle Weblogger Meetup Group, the intersection of man (and woman) and machine is a monthly get-together at places such as Ralph's Grocery and Deli in Belltown, where free Wi-Fi, plentiful food and a quiet surrounding create a perfect formula for reconnecting with one another, putting faces to admired blogs and group geeking out.

"We're attention whores," said Jake Metcalf, creator of 8bitjoystick.com.

"Why else would we blog?" asked Jack William Bell of Antigravitas.

With 328 members in and around the city, this group (blog.meetup.com/1) eclipses its counterparts in San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Boston, London and Tokyo. It's bigger than the group in New York City.

Athima Chansanchai keeps the "what does it all mean" editorializing to a gracious minimum - The story is related almost entirely through quotes of the bloggers in attendance and it's nice to see a few of our favorites get a word in. Here's to hoping all those deserving folks get a little traffic boost from people clicking through.

Dear Editors at the P-I,

I am writing to express my concern for your copy editors and layout people. In the story entitled, "From Seattle's lively blogosphere, a group is born," in the World Wide Web edition of your newspaper there are several words that appear in a funny blue color and some are even underlined. Well, I never quite took to bold face names in print and I certainly don't agree with this new form of emphasis, so if you would be so kind to relay my displeasure to those responsible I would appreciate it. Text is text and any superfluous formatting is only a sign of laziness on the writer's part, as I'm sure you know.

I think that is about time you add my blog 8bitjoystick.com to the blog roll since I got to say Bollocks in the PI. Also I pimped Seatelest to the reporter and told her that I ate at Black Bottle because of the review on this site.
