Movies in Bars

baltic.jpgYou like movies, right? And I know you like bars. Therefore, you should also like the combination of the two---that's called logic, son. Luckily over the next few days, there's three chances to engage in such a delightful admixture, à la chocolate and peanut butter.

Tonight, On 15th Video is hosting a double feature during happy hour at the Baltic Room. Show up at 5:30pm for The Princess Bride, followed by The Goonies, two movies that are near and dear to many a twenty/thirtysomething's heart. It's free, though the bartender will provide you with alcohol in exchange for money.

Meanwhile, tomorrow night, the Century Ballroom and Three Dollar Bill Cinema are sponsoring the debut screening of Elliat Graney-Saucke's film Travel Queeries. We don't know much about this movie, but according to a blurb in the Stranger, it's "a documentary on Queeruption 8, a gathering of 'radikal queers' that took place in Barcelona this past spring." Doors open at 5:45, movie starts at 6pm. Tickets are sold on a sliding scale, from $7-15, but no one will be turned away for inability to pay.

If you prefer your films to be bad, everyone's favorite way lame alien-befriending-a-crippled-kid flick Mac and Me---remember all the McDonald's tie-ins?---is at the Re-bar this Monday night. As their website so boldly asserts:

The last Monday of every month we are so happy to present Movies of Mass Destruction - come watch a fan-f***ing-tastic movie and imbibe in drinking games galore to go with it! This month's movie is MAC AND ME, a terrible E.T. rip-off! Brilliant! Doors at 8:30, movie starts at 9:30! NO COVER! FREE MOVIE! Go to www.moviesofmassdestruction.com for more info. THIS IS KICK ASS, DON'T MISS IT!

Indeed.

Ah, that was before I found out about Seattlest, good show. I think they're also showing Ladies in Lavender in addition to Me and You and Everyone We Know.

  • Tim, we're already a fan of the BP. The Belltown location is showing Me and You and Everyone We Know evenings at 8:15pm. It'd be great to see that film again in their comfy environs.

Hey - an even better idea is to go see a movie where the cinema has a full bar - like the Big Picture in Belltown. Lots of legroom in the cinema -- even ottomans for those in the front row! By far the best atmosphere of any cinema in town.

  • I'd totally go if they played my favorite film of all time: Shut the Hell Up, Silvie.

  • Hey Hendrix, too bad they're not playing your two favorite movies, The Pelican Brief and The English Patient, cause then you'd be all up in that
