Au Revoir Penelope

Seattlest has our finger firmly on the pulse of the local food writing scene. From the abundance of local food blogs, to the food critics of the local newspapers, we like feeling a part of something bigger. That we add our own din to the noise is something we feel a tad bit proud of.

So we here at Seattlest feel a tad bit of sorrow that one of our favorite Seattle Food Critics is hanging up her fork. Penelope Corcoran, late of the Seattle PI, is eating on an expense account no more.

Whatever one thought of Penelope, one could not accuse her of not standing her ground. She smacked around local Chef-Celeb Tom Douglas with one review, and then told her audience she was going to review things her way. We agreed with her on some reviews, and wondered "What the hell was she thinking?" on others. She reviewed high class places, and places we wouldn't be caught dead.

So we here at Seattlest give Penelope and well deserved "Thank you!". Thanks for letting us know your take on various places in the Puget Sound area, even while you pissed a few people off.
