Filing Week

file.JPG
Although local candidates have been attending forums, parades, and
working on their stump speeches for the past few months, this week is the real beginning of election season, for this is the week that
candidates file for office. They have until Friday afternoon to file
for a particular race, at which point it become official.

If you are interested in running for office but were waiting for the
last moment, well, you still have a few more days to hit the snooze
button.

When you are ready, head on down to the King County offices, put on some nice pants, and grab your check book—unless you can gather enough signatures to avoid paying the filling fee , which is one percent of the position's yearly salary…oh and you might want to do those things in reverse order.

If running for public office isn't your thing, you'll be able to see
who is running against whom on the county's website Friday evening. If even that isn't your thing, well you can buy books online and read them.
