Oh, a Weekend of Music

Tonight, if you aren't going to see DJ-AM (you fool!), your best bet is Beck and Le Tigre at the Paramount. We know that Beck is a Scientologist, but at least he didn't yell at Matt Laurer (or if he did, it was in private).

If you're feeling nostalgic for 1993, then Evan Dando at the Tractor is your thing. We don't know if Evan is as dreamy as he was back then, but here's hoping. We once met Evan Dando and let us tell you that he is really tall. If rockers were judged solely on height alone, he'd be bigger than Def Leppard.

Tomorrow, the Kings of Leon and the Secret Machines are at the Moore Theatre. Sure, the Kings of Leon have the hype and the facial hair, but we very much enjoyed the most recent Secret Machines album. Their whole wall of sound approach to music has pretty much dominated our iPod for quite some time.

If it ever gets above 14 degrees Fahrenheit this summer, then you can see Chris Isaak at South Lake Union Park. Since this summer seems like a wash, we recommend bringing a blanket, since they would probably frown on bringing your own heat lamp. Just be careful that Chris doesn't grab you and roll you around on the beach, hypothermia is no joke.

The United States of Electronica and Crooked Fingers are playing at KEXP BBQ on Sunday. To us, the United States of Electronica's music sounds like it was written to be in Volkswagen commercials, but then again we drive a Volkswagen. What does that say? We really don't know.

Also on Sunday you can load up the minivan and head over to the White River Amphitheater to see the Anger Management 3 Tour featuring Eminem, 50 Cent, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz, D12, G-Unit and Obie Trice. Call us crazy, but can an artist who has a video involving dancing puppets really be that angry? Cranky, maybe, but angry?

According to the Seattle Times, the show (and actually the whole tour) is far from sold out even though ticket prices have been reduced. Maybe that explains his mood. We wonder if the poor ticket sales are in anyway related to the announcement of his retirement as a touring and solo artist. Maybe he is imitating the Rolling Stones.
