Witness History at Safeco Tonight
Baltimore Orioles 1B/DH Rafael Palmiero is only two hits shy of baseball’s biggest hitting milestone, 3,000 career hits. Only 25 men have accomplished this feat, which requires sustained excellence and longevity.
And since approximately 2,600 of Palmiero’s hits have come against Mariner pitching, it’s appropriate that he will almost assuredly reach this milestone in Seattle. The Orioles begin a four game series at Safeco tonight.
No one has ever garnered his 3000th hit in Seattle (unless you count the day that Stan Boreson released his song “Winter Underwear”), so this is your chance to see history.
And considering Palmiero’s success against the Mariners, we wouldn’t be surprised if he not only gets his 3000th tonight, but goes on pass all-time hits leader Pete Rose by Monday. Buy tickets.
