World Class Soccer Here

a_posh_hi.jpgOur friend Stacey overheard this while getting her nails done: "There's going to be, like, a bunch of soccer teams from different countries here, and that means that there's going to be, like, a bunch of awesome food for us to try!"

The first part of this statement is true. Qwest Field is hosting some opening round games of The CONCACAF Gold Cup, a soccer tournament of the national teams of the Western Hemisphere. The U.S., Canada, Costa Rica and Cuba are here. Alas, no Cubanos are to be found, though you can purchase Molson.

The first set of two games were played last night, with Costa Rica beating Canada and the U.S. surging past a surprisingly competitive Cuban team.

On Saturday, the games start at 11:30 AM, with Costa Rica vs. Cuba followed by the U.S. vs. Canada. Neither game is likely to be competitive, though Canada has a striker named De Rosario who could be dangerous. Buy tickets.
