Space Needle Has a Dangler

events.jpgWe have neither our binoculars nor our super telephoto lens camera on us, but currently (noon) there are about ten people on the roof of the Space Needle, with one person dangling off the edge, hanging maybe 30 feet down on a rope. Sounds like fireworks prep to us, though we hope the dangler is OK. It's quite a sight if you can get to a window.

Update (12:15): Two more danglers seem to be helping the first; they're trying to get the guy on a backboard.

Yet Another Update (2 pm): Per the comments below, it's fire-department practice. Whew.

Naw, the Needle's still open. With binos, you can see the slightly bewildered tourists inside watching the fire dept folk work. Probably a very interesting day to go up (and nice and sunny, too).

So, do they close the Needle to let the fire department practice? That's kind of cool...

    From komotv.com:

If you're wondering who the people are dangling from the Space Needle, several fire departments are practicing high-angle rescues up there today.
