Local Artists Take Down Ziggy

mini-popecover.jpgPreviously on Seattlest we reported on the confrontation that took place on Christian talk radio station KGNW between the Seattle religious community and local cartoonist Brian Sendelbach over his allegedly outrageous Stranger cover illustration that seemed to mock the imminent deaths of the Pope and Terri Schiavo. But the conflict fizzled into disappointing anti-climax as Sendelbach charmed the interviewer and won approbations for his courage to talk on the air. The interviewer even hailed Sendelbach as a "stand up guy."

However, according to an investigative news report just published in local comics news magazine The Comics Journal (story not available online), Sendelbach’s radio performance was the work of an imposter, the cartoonist's own fellow Stranger illustrator, one Greg Stump!

Seattlest regrets unknowingly perpetuating this bamboozle and we recommend that everyone, Christian and Satanist alike, confront these two would-be subversives Friday night at their latest effort to provoke and annoy, a "multi-media" performance known only as "Ziggy-with-a-hat," to take place in two sessions at 9 and 11pm Friday June 3 at the Sweatshop Inc., located at 1202 E Pine St. Suite B., entrance on 12th.

Seattlest has already alerted the copyright holders of the Ziggy property and their attorneys.
