I Love Reviewing Election Departments

70s.bmpDo you remember that show 'Remember the 70s' on VH1? It spawned 'Remember the 80s', 'Remember the 90s’, and 'Celebrity Fit Club.' Well get ready for 'Remember the Gubernatorial Election.' It's going to be a fun time as we look back and remember the election that never really ended…oh my god, is that what we were wearing in 2004?

It starts off this week with the reviews of the King County Elections department. You know the one who kept finding un-counted ballots, prompting other counties around the state to check and find their own ballots. The first group, appointed by King County Executive Ron Sims, will make its recommendations by July 31.

John Lindback a member of the group as well as Oregon elections director told the P-I, "We need to find out what happened, why it happened and how to keep it from happening again." Sounds like an intense cliffhanger.

The second oversight committee, which was appointed by the county council, is made of 13 prominent citizens and bureaucrats. Just to build the excitement, we'll let you in on a few of the names: Randy Matheson of the Renton School District, Paul Guppy of the non-partisan Washington Policy Center, and Sheryl Moss of the Secretary of State's Office.

This is of course all leading up to the trail in Chelan County which begins next week. What an exciting time. We love sweeps!
