We have long loved 15th Avenue Northwest, especially the run between the Magnolia Bridge and Dravus Street. We're hard-pressed to find a more entertainingly random series of storefronts anywhere else in town, and we love that each time we zip up or down it we notice something new. (We also love that we can zip up and down it.)
There has been squawking already about the city's plans to redo the industrial land just to the west of 15th, and today the P-I reported that several of what we consider the "flagship" stores of 15th will be forced to move to accommodate a 60,200 square foot Whole Paycheck Foods.
So we'll bid a fond farewell to Utilikilts, which plans to move elsewhere in the city, as does EverRest Mattress. Presumably both the dog pound and the Wet Spot will be able to stay put. No word yet on where the ladybug guy will land. We just know we'd prefer our goofy, random run of stores to yet another soy milk mega-emporium.
