The Northwest Film Forum needs your money. No, seriously, they do. As a non-profit organization that lends support to the production and exhibition of artistic films, they ain't exactly rolling in the dough. And in order for them to continue to provide resources, facilities, and education for filmmakers (both professional and amateur), as well as to screen all those films at the cinematheque, a great deal o' dough is exactly what's required. Some might go so far to say that it takes money, a whole lotta spending money, it takes plenty of money to do it right, child. For this very reason, the NWFF is hosting their fourth annual auction this Saturday, which presents you with a prime opportunity to make a contribution to their cause.
Cinematic Splendor is not your grandmother's stodgy auction; rather, it's a big friggin' party held this year at the Scottish Rite Temple. Tickets are $45 (or $360 for a table of 8), which covers entry fee, dinner, and an open bar---and we all know that drinking $45 worth is as easy as Scottish pie. Doors open at 5pm, with the first auction beginning at 5:30pm.
If you're unable to attend the soiree, the filmmaker's auction is already up and running online. As the NWFF promises:
Everything a filmmaker could ever want is available to anyone with internet access. We've got camera packages, software, post-production services, grip and lighting equipment and more, not to mention lunches with screenwriting legend Stewart Stern (Rebel Without a Cause) and brilliant young filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie (screenwriter of The Usual Suspects, writer-director of The Way of the Gun). There are a ton of great items on the auction block for Saturday night, but anyone looking for filmmaking goods and services can get a head start NOW.
Bidding for these items began last Saturday and will close this Saturday, May 14th, at 3pm. Winners will also be announced at the live auction that night. So go ahead, dig deep into your pockets and give the Film Forum some cash...or at least get all dolled up and go to their party.
The Scottish Rite Temple is located at 1155 Broadway E.
Tickets are available here or by contacting the NWFF at 206-329-2629.
