Rocking the Cup Cake

mini-cupcake.jpgIt looks like a couple of the kids will be getting together this weekend at Linda's to raise money for Teen Dance Ordinance foe and friend of the music scene, City Council member Richard Conlin. Check it out; it's a Rock Star Bake Sale.

Local music types from your favorite bands such as U.S.E., IQU, The Catch, Mountain Con, Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter, Brad, and others (notably, John Wesley Harding) will be contributing baked goods or sponsoring items. Creative types (aren't we all) will be able to make use of a DIY decorating station. If you're lucky you may be the seller of a John Wesley Harding cupcake on Ebay sometime soon. That, or you could swirl the frosting yourself to portray Jesus's visiage and rake in thousands from a red state casino. Either way, fun will be had by all and there's no telling how much money you can funnel to Conlin in the silent auction on the purported "big ticket baked goods". The Rock Star Bake Sale is at Linda's on Saturday from 3-6pm.

From the email announcement:

Won't you PLEASE join us? Richard's been a big booster to the local music scene, and he's in for a tough re-election race. We're not asking you to donate $20 - if you just wanna show up and buy a couple cookies and dig some good DJs and ogle Mark Arm covered in frosting, that's all support a-plenty. And tell your friends!

uh, this event is NEXT weekend, not this one.

She's right, of course. Don't go to Linda's Saturday the 7th expecting any cup cakes.
