What: Kimchi Bistro
When: Wed, April 13, 8pm
Kimchi Bistro is so good that we wanted to keep it to ourselves forever. But after going there for the umpteenth time earlier this week, we knew it was wrong to be so selfish.
The bistro is hidden in the back of the Broadway Alley, on Broadway at John (the mall where Hana Sushi is). They don’t serve any alcohol or dessert and the TV is always on. Every order comes with an assortment of apps, including, of course, kimchi (spicy pickled cabbage). And the food is so good we wish our stomachs were bigger.
Of note is the pa-juhn (pan fried seafood pancake with green onion and veggies); the bulgogi, pork or beef (bulgogi literally means "fire meat;" it’s spicy, bbq’d meat); the pot bibim bop (hot pot of sizzling rice, veggies, and, if you want, meat). Don’t forget to ask for the "red sauce" – it makes the bibim bop unreal.
Finally, we recommend the Kimchi Chige, which is a spicy soup that a friend of ours loves. The same friend who introduced us to this place, after keeping it a secret for a very long time.
Open for lunch and dinner, Mon – Sat, 11:30- 9:30pm. 219 Broadway E. 206.323.4472. Lunch, mostly $5.99 - $10.95. Dinner, mostly $6.99 - $11.95.
