Seattle is an espresso town. We don't just drink the standard pot of coffee, we order sophisticated-sounding specialty drinks. Our amateurish appreciation of coffee has spawned a broad artisan coffee community. So what is the number one independent coffee roaster/brewer in Seattle? Of course it is your favorite local coffee spot, but on Flickr, Victrola is sharing the joy and beauty of espresso.

Victrola Coffee on Capitol Hill, at least publicly, seems to be the state of the art in Seattle coffee. They don't just pull a good shot, they take photos of the shots, they time the pull and they write about it. They get their friends together and go taste coffee at other cafes.

Their roaster, Tonx, keeps an interesting account of the art of crafting a richly roasted coffee bean. He even mentions a yummy coffee-based cocktail which we are not sure you can order at Victrola.

But if you are stuck at your desk and your only option is the office brew, check out these neato photos of espresso, latte art and the coffee culture of Victrola on Flickr.

But don't get too hype about Seattle being the coffee capital of the world, check out the latte art from Danish world champion barista Martin Hildebrandt (via Victrola).

    "broad artesian coffee community"

Hmmm. I suppose one could say that we have a flowing community of baristas forced above ground by underground pressure, but I think it's more likely that you are depending on an absolutely mindless spell-checker to keep you from making spelling errors.

Never depend on spell-checkers; they have no sense of context.

Believe me -- the word you were searching for was 'artisan'.
