We've heard murmurings about this for weeks but have yet to get down there to check it out ourselves--which might be okay because it's possible that we could die from the cuteness. The Seattle Aquarium has a newborn otter!
Let the orca be Washington's official marine mammal--we're psyched about the little dude or dudette (biologists haven't gotten close enough to discern the gender of the wee one).
Some background on the critter, via the aquarium's website: it's the offspring of an otter named Aniak, also born at the aquarium, and an "on-loan" stud from Alaska by way of Oregon named Adaa. It's the first-ever second-generation sea otter born at an aquarium or zoo in the U.S.
We'll get down there and get some photos soon--or maybe you already have some photos you'd share?--let us know.

Car Crash on Viaduct Dislodges Debris

Actually, I saw this little guy two weeks ago but wasn't able to capture him/her/it in a photograph. It's cute, but at that time it pretty much never moved from sleeping in the corner. It's probably more active now. Also of note is the office cubicle they have set up outside of the enclosure, presumably for 24hr observation of the rug rat. It has to be Seattle's current Most Coveted Cube.
